Q: My
undergraduate degree is not in
chemical engineering, but I
would like to pursue a M.S. or
Ph.D.
in chemical engineering.
What are my chances of being
admitted to your program?
Answer:
Admission to the graduate
program in chemical engineering
at Oklahoma State University is
highly competitive. While an
undergraduate degree in chemical
engineering is not a strict
requirement for admission, we
expect students to have
completed the equivalent of our
own undergraduate required
curriculum. This may require six
to ten undergraduate chemical
engineering courses.

Q: I
will be in town, and I would
like to stop by and tour the
department. Can I drop in on a
few faculty members and research
groups at that time?
Answer:
Yes, Please arrange such a visit
with the Graduate Coordinator.

Q: I am interested in receiving
financial aid during my studies.
Is aid available? If so, what
types?
Answer:
We have several types of support
available to qualified students
in the M.S. and Ph.D. programs.
-
Fellowships that are
sponsored by industrial
supporters of our program;
these normally do not
require the student to
perform any specific service
to the School
-
Research assistantships on a
variety of externally
supported research projects,
which permit the student to
pursue thesis research on
the assistantship
-
Teaching assistantships for
students who assist faculty
in classes, performing as
graders, lab assistants
and/or consultants to the
students
-
Stipends for each type of
support are competitive with
those provided by other
graduate programs in
chemical engineering.
Students from outside of
Oklahoma who are supported
on assistantships also
receive a waiver of the
out-of-state portion of
their tuition fees.
-
Every applicant for
admission is automatically
considered for financial
aid. No separate application
form is required. Our policy
is to continue to support
students throughout their
graduate studies, so long as
they maintain satisfactory
progress toward their
degree.
