Future Directions in Chemical Engineering: A New Path to Glory
Dr. Arvind Varma
After earning his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota (1972), Dr. Arvind Varma was a senior research engineer with Union Carbide Corporation before joining the Notre Dame chemical engineering faculty in 1975, serving as Department Chair (1982-88), and founding the Center for Molecularly Engineered Materials (2000). His research interests are in chemical and catalytic reaction engineering, and synthesis of advanced materials. He has published over 225 journal articles, and co-authored three and co-edited two books. He has served on many national level committees, and received a variety of recognition for his teaching and research, including the Wilhelm (1993) and Thiele (1998) Awards of AIChE, and the Chemical Engineering Lectureship Award of ASEE (2000).
