Dr. Arland H. ‘AJ’ Johannes Receives the Outstanding Faculty Award from the
Order of Omega

OSU Chemical Engineering Professor “AJ” Arland H. Johannes was presented the Outstanding Faculty Award by the Order of Omega on Wednesday, April 7, 2004.  The Outstanding Faculty Award recognizes staff or faculty members that make a positive impact on members of the Greek community, and is highly regarded by recipients as direct recognition by students.

The Order of Omega is a Greek Honor Society founded in 1959 at the University of Miami.  Membership is comprised of as much as the top 3% of the Greek community, based on many criteria, including scholarship, leadership, and service.  The OSU Chapter was founded in September 1984, and resumed naming award recipients in 2000.

This award was given on behalf of OSU’s Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils.  Candidates for the award were nominated by student members of Greek life.  Final award recipients were selected by the members of each Greek chapter and the members of the Order of Omega.  Chemical Engineering is well represented in the Order of Omega by President Gary Swantner and members Ashley Price and Paul Stark.

Past Outstanding Faculty Award recipients include:  Dan Tilley of the College of Agriculture (2000 – 2003), Neill F. Armstrong of the College of Education, Lee Manzer of Marketing, Kaye Strom of CDIS, Andrew Urich of Economics, David Pratt of Industrial Engineering (2001 – 2002), and Camille Frye DeYong of Industrial Engineering (2000).
