Top Ten Senior-Alyssa Schilling
Annually, the OSU Alumni Association recognizes the Top Ten Graduating
Seniors. This year, among the five women honored, is ChE student Alyssa
Schilling.
Students are recognized for their academic achievements, leadership roles,
and volunteer service while attending OSU.
Alyssa was active in and held leadership roles in many campus organizations:
CEAT Student Council, Big Event Community Service Day, Omicron Delta Kappa
Leadership Honor Society, Camp Cowboy, Kappa Alpha Theta National Women's
Fraternity, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Mortar Board Senior Honor
Society, Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi
Engineering Honor Society, CEAT Scholars Enrichment Program, Student Government
Association and Society of Women Engineers.
Off campus she was a donor or volunteer for the following community
organizations: Toys for Tots, American Cancer Society Daffodil Days,
Harvest 2 Can Drive, Payne County Women's Shelter; Charity Walk for Court
Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), S.W.E. Girl Scout Day, Boo Hoo Buddies,
Theta Rocks the CASA, American Red Cross and ROTORACT Community Service
Organization. She worked fulltime in the summers of 2000 and 2001 for
Williams Energy in Tulsa and worked as the Sir Alexander Fleming Scholar at the
Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation the summer of 1997.
Some of her awards include: Homecoming Queen Finalist 2000, CEAT Female
Ambassador, CEAT Student Council Returning Member of the Year, Sir Alexander
Fleming Scholar, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, College of Engineering
Honors, President's Honor Roll, Dean's Honor Roll and University Honors Program.
She is a published medical researcher in The Journal of Autoimmunity,
October 1998.
Alyssa received the following scholarships: President's Distinguished
Scholar, Valedictorian's Tuition Waiver, Lew Wentz Foundation Scholarship,
Conoco Women in Engineering, Architecture and Technology, CEAT General
Scholarship, Chemical Engineering Department, Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation,
Phillips Entering Freshman Woman in Engineering, and Oklahoma Bar Association.
