Jeremy Tillman 2006 Finalist in

OSU Student Employee of the Year Recognition

This year OSU selected six students as finalists for the Employee of the Year Award.  Jeremy Tillman, sophomore in chemical engineering, is one of the top six at OSU.  He performs a wide variety of jobs for the school from web management, to cleaning-out the junk that accumulates in storage, to creating a unit operations lab experiment.  Jeremy came to us from Illinois.

Excerpts from Nomination letters:

“Jeremy has a congenial personality, and works well with the other people in our department.  He is extremely reliable, always on time to work, offers to help with any task that needs to be done and every task he is assigned.”

“My first interaction with Jeremy was in fall 2004 as a work study in the department.  Although he was a freshman at the time, I was amazed about his interest level in learning novel tools.  We constructed a novel chem-e-car experiment as part of the Unit Operations Laboratory used for training juniors in Chemical Engineering.  To complete this project, he would come at times that would surprise me.  The number of hours he spent on this project was countless.  We completed this novel project and used it in the course and also presented this novel experiment in a national conference.  Most of the credit goes to Jeremy.”

“Typically even graduate students will have difficulty in conducting such careful experiments.  For Jeremy it was easy as he is very organized, punctual, intelligent, and eager.”

“His effort in completing tasks has resulted in multiple presentations in national conference and two independent research papers.  His contributions in both the papers are very significant.”

“Jeremy is an absolute delight to work with.  He can work in a team and be very productive.  Although he is a sophomore now, he has a significantly high degree of maturity.  His positive attitude, creative thinking, ability to work independently, responsiveness to comments and suggestions, and good manners, are additional qualities.  He is very diligent and responsible.”

“Jeremy is one of the most reliable people that I have ever known.  He shows up on time and never complains about being tired or sick.”

“Jeremy’s initiative is outstanding.  He is a highly self-motivated worker who works well with little supervision.  Jeremy consistently surpasses my expectations in getting work done.”
