Financial Aid
In addition to scholarships
available at the University and
college levels, the School of
Chemical Engineering awards a
number of scholarships which are
funded by alumni, friends, and
industrial partners. These range
from $1000 to $5000 per year and
include awards to incoming
freshmen. Criteria include
academic achievement,
professional contributions,
financial need, and leadership
in both classroom and
extra-curricular activities.
For continuing students, the
application form can be found
here.
The submission process for ChE
scholarships is open until the
first week of classes in the
Fall semester, and the School
Scholarship Committee selects
awardees by the middle
September. This is a once
per year process. See the
notices in 423 EN for details on
the dates.
The School of Chemical
Engineering awards scholarships
for incoming freshmen students
declaring chemical engineering
as their intended major; and
selection is based on ACT/SAT
test scores and high school
grades and activities as
revealed on the applications to
the university. These High
School Excellence scholarships
from ChE are awarded in April,
implying that students must have
applied to OSU and filled in the
scholarship form by about
January.
We also have opportunities
for students to work with
faculty members on research
projects with financial support.
Interested students need to meet
with individual faculty members
and “sell” their ability and
commitment to the work.
Link to the
faculty
pages to read about the research
interests of the professors.
Normally, undergraduates
participating in research have
completed the sophomore classes.
Many students earn both money
and valuable experience in
summer internship programs with
industry. Normally,
internships are offered to those
undergraduates who have
completed the sophomore classes.
Opportunities are available
through the CEAT
Career Services
office in 101 EN.
Finally, the OSU
Office of Scholarships and
Financial Aid
can reveal off-campus scholarships
and student loan opportunities.
